Firstly, for those of you that don’t know – ANZAC stands for Australian New Zealand Army Corps. Secondly, today means so much more than a day off of work as it marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. Today helps us remember the thousands of  brave soldiers that are fighting and have fought for our country.

Similar to previous years my family woke to our alarms at 5:45am for the local dawn service this morning. We dressed in scarfs, gloves, boots, 2 pairs of socks and over sized jackets to join many others in the fresh air for the ANZAC’s. Standing in the mist and fog was only a small sacrifice to honor the brave soldiers!

Once we got home after a hot breakfast and coffee {with a dash of rum – true ANZAC tradition} at the RSL, I couldn’t find a better excuse to make ANZAC biscuits!

Lest we forget.
