Two Are Better Than One

I read this verse today. ‘Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up the other; but woe to one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help.’ Ecclesiastes 4:9-10. It made me feel amazingly grateful for the relationships I have in my life. Thank you Lord for giving me people to laugh with, give advice, hug without hesitation and help in times of need.

I also think pastel purple and pastel green have a good relationship. In this summer-like weather they compliment each other like schnitzel and gravy.

Life Today

Dear air conditioner, thankyou for cooling my car after I let it sit in 32 degree heat for three hours. Dear pay-day, you have helped me buy Christmas presents, fuel my car and buy some of these as a treat. You don’t come around fast enough. Dear Monday, sometimes the best way to start you is with some sweetness at breakfast. You were delicious! Dear Jason Mraz, Mr J and I have found a new love for your song ‘I won’t give up‘. It is amazingly relevant for our life together. Dear Mr J, you make me blush when you dress in your nice shirt, are neatly groomed and smell of goodness. Thankyou for making an effort to impress me. Dear Christmas, it is only 29 days until you visit. My excitement levels are growing.. can’t wait to party for Jesus!

Happy Monday everybody. Only four more days until the weekend!

Santa Fun Run

As mentioned here, my bestie is in town. This morning we joined over a thousand others in the Santa Fun Run. We woke up at six o’clock am to get a perfect park, put our red suits on and prepare for our four kilometer walk. Knowing that we were exercising for a cause motivated us even more. We ate some free fruchocs for energy, listened to some live entertainment, enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the River Torrens and were ready to begin at 9:30am.

We reached the finished line by 10:30am. Minutes after Lauren spotted Brenton Sanderson who was kind enough to be apart of photo.

We relaxed our legs at a beautiful cafe in North Adelaide afterwards. My freshly squeezed orange juice and chicken salad was very refreshing.

I’m so thankful for such a fun and amazing friend. What a great day!

My Past Couple Weeks

Wow, I can’t believe I have not caught up with you all for two weeks. My apologies! Life has been hectic…

Working as an apple packer isn’t that bad. It’s physically challenging and quite draining. However, I have felt very welcome and shared many laughs with the ladies. It a very convenient drive and I get FREE apples {always a bonus!}.

Dance lessons with Mr J have been fun. We have learnt the rumba, cha cha, tango and a progressive jive.

Adelaide witnessed part of the eclipse that was happening around our country. Dad brought out his welding mask to view this amazing event. He slightly resembled Ned Kelly.

Netball and tennis are providing a regular social life and exercise for me. I love the people who I see weekly at mixed netball, summer netball and tennis.

Mr J and I have made the most of our quality time together. Last Sunday we drove to Harbour town, followed by Glenelg. Here we shared a pizza, ate two yummy desserts and talked in front of the sunset. Lovely!

I’m super excited to have my bestie on uni holidays, meaning she is back to being a local for the next three months. We have already had a yummy dinner date, organising car pulls and participated in this this morning. I’ve missed her!

Mr J has got new glasses! They are very funky.

The other Tuesday I met with some lovely people to start organising this. Excitement has arrived and motivation is at a high!

Adelaide is starting to prepare us for summer. The weather has been above thirty degrees numerous times. We have been able to enjoy our late barbeques and salads, wear dresses and shorts, go to the beach, watch cricket and have 10pm swims.

Oh, and did I mention… I got into uni!! After expecting to find out early next year, I received a letter a number of Fridays ago informing me I will be studying Primary & Middle School Teaching. I’m a tad excited.

Until next time, keep sending those smiles around.

Easy Peasy Chocolate Treats

The yummy little treats I made here satisfied my chocolate craving. Because they were so easy, here is the recipe. All of the ingredients won’t require a special trip to a supermarket. Make them now.

What you will need:
– 2 eggs
– 1 cup of brown sugar
– 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
– 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
– 2 cups of plain flour
– 1 tablespoon of baking powder
– 1/2 cup of cocoa

What you will need to do:
1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees celsius
2. In a mixing bowling, combine the eggs, sugar, oil and vanilla
3. Sift in the flour, baking powder and cocoa
4. Roll spoonfuls of the mixture onto a greased tray and press to flatten slightly
5. Bake for 12 – 15 minutes.
6. Leave to cool on the tray for 5 minutes until moving them onto a cooling rack.

Some extra ideas and notes:
I added a spoonful of peanut butter for something different, chocolate and peanut butter are made for each other!
You can also add chocolate chips or nuts if you love some texture.
I decorated the top of the biscuits with 100s and 1000s for colour, you can keep them plain or decorate them too.

Make these biscuits your own, vary the recipe as you wish, decorate how you wish and add what you wish. Enjoy!

The traditional recipe was found here.

My Friday has been great!

Great way to start my weekend. Knocked off work five hours early {still leaving me with 32 hours of work this week}. Ate leftovers for lunch and was ready to enjoy some things I love…

Baked some Chocolate Cookies, using only the ingredients in the cupboard. Had to add some 100s & 1000s to make them look fun!

Painted my nails in these gorgeous colours!

Went for my second walk for the day in the beautiful sunshine! I encountered a koala along the way (that black spot on the left side).

I’m now going to freshen up, make a mini-picnic-like dinner and trek over to pick Mr J up from work. & then it’s dance time!

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope it’s been good for you too.

Something New

I have a couple new things in my life.

A new job.
Apple/Cherry Packing
Sandwich artistry was not very convenient for me. Now I have a job five days a week, better pay, lovely colleagues and a 15 minute drive from home. This will help me financially until I find out my uni results.

A new goal.
100 days of exercise to lose my overseas weight. Preferably by Christmas.

A new bedroom.
With motivation to clean my room last night, an hour had passed and I had rearranged the furniture.

A new calendar.
I’ve slipped into modern technology and currently trialing my calendar on my phone and internet!

A new alarm time.
6:30am. To walk, eat breakfast and go earn money!

A new thought
Christmas is just around the corner!!

Movember 2012

For those of you that know my partner would know that he can grow hair with ease! Movember has begun and so has Mr J’s moustache! Five days have passed and another 25 are coming, in which Mr J will grow hair on his face for a wonderful cause. We would appreciate any donations {no matter how small or big}. By donating money, you’ll be helping the 3,300 men diagnosed with prostate cancer each year and the 1 in 8 men who experience depression. To find out more about movember and how to donate, go to Mr J’s Mo Space {type this URL into your browser,}

Go Mo’s!

My Weekend

Last week I worked three night shifts and finished the week with ten hours of sandwich artist-ing on Friday. I was stuffed. Due to work I unfortunately missed out on a friends 30th Disney dress up party but got to smile at photos and enjoy costume shopping with Mr J and a friend. Mr J put on his Buzz Lightyear pants for the night.

Saturday I played tennis. We lost, but got a good handful of Vitamin D. The night was super! I spent it eating Thai with a friend, we talked so much that the waitress staff were kicking us out of the place. That didn’t stop us though… once we were outside we talked for another hour. Lots to catch up on! I finished the night with Mr J, talking about life over a Rekorderlig Cider {my favourite!}.

Sunday was beautiful. I didn’t rush out of bed. At 11am Mr J and I decided to cruise to Melbourne Street. He wanted breakfast, I wanted lunch. We found a lovely cafe that suited both our needs. We sat outside in the warm weather, people-watched, talked, noticed the Christmas decorations already hanging in the street and laughed about funny quotes. We detoured back to our car to enjoy the sun a little more and spent the afternoon watching a movie and chilling at a local baseball match. The day wasn’t over yet, we got to catch up with some awesome people – the boys watched the formula 1’s while the girls spent time on here, playing games and laughing at the night jokes. Great friend time.

I slept well.

Muddled Days

This drink gives every reason to go back for seconds and thirds. Why? It’s simply delicious, and healthy!

Last night I got an hours sleep before working night shift. The relaxing night on the couch with Mr J and a movie helped me get through the night also. I got home in the early morning and headed to bed. Woke up five hours later for breakfast {which is lunch to everyone else} and now sitting in the warmth watching the clouds, waiting for the storm to come.

I’m not sure whether it is tiredness making me think, but Christmas is already on my mind. I have gift ideas, motivation for do it yourself projects, baking and contemplating starting a countdown. Christmas is my favourite time of year. What a great feeling it brings as we celebrate Jesus’ birth! Has anyone else starting thinking about it?

Less that eight hours before I start work again. Hanging out for the weekend {and pay day}!
