Christmas is a’comin!

It's Christmas!

For those advent calendar eaters – I hope you have enjoyed your first six treats! Only three more days until we can start driving around Lobethal looking at Christmas lights. Christmas cards are written, carols are playing and our tree is nearly up! This season excites me like bananas excite a monkey. I only wish that chocolate, pudding and biscuits were vegetables. What are you doing to prepare for Christmas?

The Surprise Date

I Love You Everyday Mr J!

Yesterday, the 2nd of December, Mr J and I celebrated three years together.

For two weeks I had been looking forward to our anniversary eve. Mr J had informed me he was taking me to a surprise destination, I was to wear formal and be ready by 7:30pm. At that time, Mr J drove in the driveway in his new outfit and looking very swish. I was trusted to close my eyes from the bottom of the freeway for the final ten minute drive. I tried to guess where we were heading but with my directional skills, no luck! The car was parked and I opened my eyes to this incredible and impressive restaurant. Wow! We were seated at a window seat where we had a prime view of Adelaide’s lights, & the best seat for some fireworks in the distance and plane landings. The food was incredible and the experience was even better. Mr J and I shared so many laughs and conversation. I was spoilt.

I was super impressed. This man is a keeper.

I can’t thank God enough for blessing me with a man who I can call my true love, partner in crime, best friend, support, inspiration and personal comedian. We have shared so many amazing and difficult times together which have got us to where we are now and I wouldn’t change a thing! Mr J, thank you for being you and wanting to get to know me back in 2009.Happy Anniversary Mr J!

My Friday has been great!

Great way to start my weekend. Knocked off work five hours early {still leaving me with 32 hours of work this week}. Ate leftovers for lunch and was ready to enjoy some things I love…

Baked some Chocolate Cookies, using only the ingredients in the cupboard. Had to add some 100s & 1000s to make them look fun!

Painted my nails in these gorgeous colours!

Went for my second walk for the day in the beautiful sunshine! I encountered a koala along the way (that black spot on the left side).

I’m now going to freshen up, make a mini-picnic-like dinner and trek over to pick Mr J up from work. & then it’s dance time!

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope it’s been good for you too.

Favourites in cooking

Today I cooked this, which turned out extremely yummy for a wintry, cold day. I recommend this recipe if you haven’t tried it!

I didn’t want to stop there… I made cookies with Favourites. Choc chip cookies with a twist. As I didn’t have any choc chips, I exchanged them with some chopped Favourites {including, dairy milk bubbly, cherry ripe, cadbury milk chocolate,  and boost} plus hersheys (from America!). Smelling delish, I tasted a fresh, warm cookie and found it melted in my mouth. I had bursts of cherry, caramel and chocolate pieces throughout the entire experience. Cookies taken to another level! My weekend has started well.

Last activities in New York

27th July 2012
Mr J and I started our day heading towards 5th Avenue in search of New York’s Public Library. We found it. It looked impressive from the outside but was very hard to navigate around on the inside, it was as though they had made it hard for tourists on purpose. After some photos in front of the library we started our walk to Central Park. Along the way we stopped at a few stores including a Lindt store. Bad idea – Chocolate was bought. This store had so many flavours of lindt that I had never seen before, Mr J and I had to try some. We only could afford to look through the 6 floors of Tiffany & Co. and visited the apple store which is open 24/7!! Mr J and I located Central Park and started our stroll. It is massive. 843 acres is quite hard to navigate through therefore we bought a map. We sore baseball fields, green ‘paddocks’ to kick the ball or have a picnic, volleyball courts, cafes, restaurants and lakes. We paid US$12.50 to hire a row boat and paddle along one of the lakes in Central Park. We had the boat for an hour which was enough to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

It was around 4:00pm when Mr J and I decided to catch our first New York taxi. Definitely an experience as it had its own TV for the passengers and very comfortable seating. We got dropped off at one of the biggest department stores in the World, Macy’s. Nine floors of every shoppers dream. After fighting temptation to buy something Mr J and I walked 8 blocks back to our hotel room to get ready for The Lion King in broadway. The show was everything we could have hoped for and MORE. We had goosebumps from start to finish and would do it again any second. Money well spent and definitely recommended. Incredible.

After a busy last day in New York, we managed to see the end of the Olympic 2012 opening ceremony. We will be cheering our home country on from the states and Canada, go Australia go!

Brilliant Baking Bonding

I had a wonderful day today.

While the sun hid behind the clouds and the rain came down, I enjoyed the warmth of my home. Not having to rush out of bed at any particular time I snuggled under my covers looking forward to a relaxing day.

This afternoon I had the wonderful company of my best friend. With chocolate, condensed milk, butter, sprinkles, cream and other yummy flavours laid out on the kitchen bench, we began baking. We caught up and laughed over some productive cooking. Together we baked 2 birthday cakes, 1 lemon slice and some melting moment biscuits. All looking fabulous!

With two birthday parties this weekend {one being for this reason & the other for my bro}, this needed to be done and time flew. I love being able to spend time with a girl I call my sister, best friend and inspiration. We are ourselves around each other {I’m sure we all have someone like that in our life!}.

The cakes we made were easy, it’s all about the decoration. Use a basic chocolate cake recipe and go from there! Fingers crossed they taste as good as they look.

Happy Friday!! I hope your weekends are fabulously full of fun!

Fancy Tea?

I love tea and today my boss directed me to this.

Who knew that there was tea in the flavour of chocolate, creme brulee, vanilla slice and strawberries & cream? Dream. Come. True!!

I still have to venture to this store but considering they sell giant tea cups there is no doubt it will be good. Plus, their website looks mighty fine.

Next time I’m in Rundall Street, T2 here I come!

Chocolate Mug Cake

The weekend is here!
My relaxing friday night has consisted of chilli con carne, chocolate mug cake, laughs and great company.
