The Living Nativity

Lobethal Living Nativity

Yesterday, after a delicious dinner and dessert at our local recreation ground with the family, Mr J and I ended the evening by viewing The Living Nativity. We heard the story of Jesus’ birth and witnessed our friends super acting skills. Christmas is only seven sleeps away!  I hope all of your Christmas preparations are being conquered and are able to remember the true meaning of this season in the midst of it all.

One More

The Lord will guide you always: He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

Isiah 58:11

This time tomorrow I would have flown through the air and been in my next destination for a couple of hours with Mr J. One more sleep, or should I say one more night {not sure how much sleep I’ll get}!. I have every emotion running through my body. I received the above bible verse from my grandparents last weekend. It has helped me to remember that our Lord will be with us and that He will provide us with what we need. Through prayer, faith and trust, Mr J and I know that God will look after us throughout the coming weeks, He will also be looking over our family and friends back home.

It’s come so quickly, tomorrow I’m having brunch with my beautiful family before entering the hectic airport.

& Now off to double check my lists…

12th of June Anniversary

3 days ago {12th June} was the anniversary of a very special day.

The 12th of June marks the baptism anniversary of my beautiful cousin, Kez. What a beautiful day it was. Friends and family enjoyed each others company as we praised God and shared this wonderful occasion. This day was particularly speical to me as I was chosen as a Godparent. Until this day, I remember Uncle S & Aunty V asking if I would like to be a Godmother – I have not looked back! It has been an absolute pleasure to have this extra committment to my cousin. Although they are living a good 3,000 km away at the moment, my prayers are always with Kez and her family. I feel so thankful to have this opportunity. We have an awesome God and this is one of the million reason I can share His love.

At this church service, we sang Amazing Love by Hillsong. From that day, this song has so much meaning to me and continues to be one of my favourites.

“You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ…” ~ Galations 3:26-29

Operation Christmas Child {A New Venture}

Late last week, Samaritans Purse welcomed me as a volunteer. I’m very excited to join the team at Samaritans Purse to assist with one of their major projects, Operation Christmas Child. This is a wonderful project that demonstrates God’s love. It brings joy and hope to millions of children in desperate situations around the world by giving shoe boxes filled with toys, hygiene items, school supplies and the message of God’s unconditional love. This is a simple hands on prjoect that ANYONE can be involved in.

Samaritans Purse helps those who are suffereing from the effects of war, famine, disease, extreme poverty and natural disasters.

Did you know?

  • More than 2.3 million children under 15 worldwide are living with HIV/AIDS.
  • In the past decade, war has claimed the lives of more than two million children.
  • As many as 1.8 million children are being forced into prostitution and pornography ever year around the world, some as young as 11 years old.
  • Each day, 5,000 children die needlessly from waterborne illnesses {equivalent to 12 full jumbo jets craching}.

If you want any more information about Operation Christmas Child and how you can be involved, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

My Doings

In the last three days I have:

*Read God’s word {Romans 6 was a highlight}
*Ate soup
*Lived in maximum 14 degrees celcius weather
*Worn layers, big scarfs and my NEW fingerless gloves {fingerless so I can wear them all day and still type & write} as a result of above
*Used my travel mug {filled with chai tea!}
*Completed a crossword
*Listened to the rain on the roof while be snuggled under my bed covers
*Gave Mr J a card with 126 reasons why I’m thankful for him
*Attended work each day
*Cancelled netball training due to the massive amount of wet coming from the sky {aka rain}
*Looked into a travel card for overseas – 45 days to go!
*Prayed
*Tried my new bag on to make sure it still fits after a couple days – excitement might have a little bit to do with it too {maybe!}

& now I’m super dooper excited to spend some time with my bestie tonight. We will be eating Mum’s homemade chicken noodle soup and covering ourselves with blankets watching McLeods’ Daughters {or alternatively a good old chick flick!}. We’ll need some warmth for this weekend considering we will be getting down to our bodysuits for netball tomorrow {forecasted temperature: maximum 13 degrees celcius}, brrrrr!

Happy Friday everyone! What are your plans for the weekend?

My Hero

Dear God,
You are my strength, my advice, my best friend, my father, my consultant, my addiction and my hero. Thankyou for sending your son so we can be saved, thankyou for your forgiveness every day and thankyou for your comfort every second.  Amen.

The past year has thrown me many hurdles, confusion and difficulties. I have been in situations that I have never faced before. After freaking out a little, I took a step back to breathe. This was when I realised that in order for me to move on, understand where my life was going and be truly happy I have to let God into my life. Rather than put myself first, I have to put God first. I have to put him first in my relationship with Mr J, in my relationships with friends and family and I want to consider God first in all the decisions I make {would He be happy with them?}.

“Take delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Pslam 37:4

I am so thankful that I have been brought up in Christian family with Christian friends, schools and a local church. My relationship with God is dandy but we can always build a closer relationship with him and can always work towards being more like Him each day. We aren’t perfect, we are humans! & I am the first to admit that I do, say and think things I shouldn’t, but the amazing thing is that we have God’s forgiveness ANYTIME. He is constantly by our side to help us show His light to the world. All we have to do is want it.

“Don’t worry because I am with you. Don’t be afraid because I am your God. I will make you strong and help you.” Isiah 41:10

The worry I had in my life has turned into faith. I have faith that God has a plan for us. I believe that everything happens in this world for a reason and God would not put us through anything He thought we couldn’t handle.

We all have bad days and sometimes need to be reminded of this – I know I do! God is our light.

From Shame

“We run to get away [but] because of His great love, we are alive with Christ. Let’s stop running from it all [and] run to grace for we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.”

From Shame is a video that gave me relief and comfort but also left me thinking, planning and praying. I would love it if you watch it yourself {it only takes 1 minute, 55 seconds}. Please feel free to share how it made you feel too, I would love to hear your thoughts!
